Various / Tribute
"Best of Louie, Louie"
1. The Rice University Marching Owl Band. This marching band version was later featured in the film The Naked Gun.
2. Richard Berry. This version by the song's composer is not his original recording, but a remake.
3. Rockin' Robin Roberts. This version inspired the Kingsmen's version.
4. The Sonics. The Sonics were the hardest rocking of the '60s "Nuggets" type groups.
5. The Sandpipers. This "latin lounge" version was the only other version of the song to hit the American Top 40.
6. The Kingmen. The version you know and love.
7. The Last. Performed in the style of the Doors.
8. Eddie & the Subtitles. On the original vinyl version of this album (which I own), there was a version of Louie Louie performed by legendary punk band Black Flag. On the CD release, it was replaced by a version of "Louie, Louie" performed by obscure punk band Eddie & the Subtitles.
9. Les Dantz & his Orchestra. Performed in the style of "Let's Dance" era David Bowie.
10. The Impossibles. This is "The Hallelujah Chorus" with the words changed to "Louie, Louie".
